SC002Lesson 8 of 1040 min
Light, colour and sound
Anyone who has opened their eyes underwater without a mask knows that the world looks blurred. With a mask, objects look sharper but strangely close and large. Colours fade to blue, and voices cannot be heard. All of this comes from the way light and sound behave in water.
Objectives
- Explain why objects look closer and larger underwater
- Describe which colours disappear first with depth and why
- Explain why sound travels fast but is hard to locate underwater
